Celebrity Photo Leak Sparks Outrage

Following a purported hack, nude images of celebrities, including Jennifer Lawrence, have surfaced online.

Some celebrities have argued that the photos are not authentic, but others appear to have attested to the fact that they are in them.

The list of primarily female celebrities targeted also includes Kim Kardashian , Selena Gomez , Kate Upton, and Rihanna.

According to Lawrence's representative, her team will be pursuing legal action.

This blatantly violates people's privacy. Jennifer Lawrence's representative told Newsbeat, "The authorities have been notified and will prosecute anyone who shares the stolen images of Jennifer Lawrence."

The actress who has acted in movies like A Good Day to Die Hard, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, also admitted that the photos were of her.

She wrote, "I hope you feel fantastic about yourselves, to those of you looking at images I took with my husband years ago in the privacy of our house."

"I can only imagine the eerie effort that went into this, knowing that those pictures were removed a long time ago. I am sorry for everyone who was compromised.

Later, she declared that she was taking "an internet sabbatical" due to the trolling she had been subjected to.
